Generalized Shape and Gauge Decoupling Load Distribution Optimization Based on IGA for Tandem Cold Mill

Load distribution is the foundation of shape control and gauge control, in which it is necessary to take into account the shape control ability of TCM (tandem cold mill) for strip shape and gauge quality. First, the objective function of generalized shape and gauge decoupling load distribution optimization was established, which considered the rolling force characteristics of the first and last stands in TCM, the relative power, and the TCM shape control ability. Then, IGA (immune genetic algorithm) was used to accomplish this multiobjective load distribution optimization for TCM. After simulation and comparison with the practical load distribution strategy in one tandem cold mill, generalized shape and gauge decoupling load distribution optimization on the basis of IGA approved good ability of optimizing shape control and gauge control simultaneously.

Research and Application of Flat Roll Technology in the Downstream Stands for CSP

CVC mills are generally used in the whole stands of CSP (Compact Strip Product). Their special “s” curve of work roll contour and shifting strategy aimed at controlling strip shape, and the characteristics of continuous casting and rolling production, which make the work roll wear in downstream stands seriously uneven, and easily form abnormal transverse profile at the rolling end. As a result, CVC mill configuration in the downstream stands can not meet the profile and flatness control requirement for schedule free rolling, and bring some difficulties in profile and flatness control for the subsequent cold rolling. Based on the characteristics of the shape control system of CSP production line, and combined with the theory of flat roll technology, a kind of technology solution of using flat roll in the downsteam stands for CSP hot strip mills was proposed. At last, industrial test was carried out in the last stand of Masteel CSP, and good results were obtained.

Precision Plate Plan View Pattern Predictive Model

According to the rolling features of plate mill, a 3D elastic-plastic FEM(finite element model) based on full restart method of ANSYS/LS-DYNA was established to study the inhomogeneous plastic deformation of multi-pass plate rolling. By analyzing the simulation results, the difference of head and tail ends predictive models was found and modified. According to the numerical simulation results of 120 different kinds of conditions, precision plate plan view pattern predictive model was established. Based on these models, the sizing MAS (mizushima automatic plan view pattern control system) method was designed and used on a 2800 mm plate mill. Comparing the rolled plates with and without PVPP (plan view pattern predictive) model, the reduced width deviation indicates that the plate plan view pattern predictive model is precise.

Control Strategies of Asymmetric Strip Shape in Six-High Cold Rolling Mill

It is a complicated problem for cold-rolled strip to improve asymmetric strip shape in strip production. A roll system and strip coupled model of six-high cold rolling mill was established with finite element method to estimate the effect of intermediate roll shifting, tilting, symmetric and asymmetric bending technologies on strip profile. To reduce asymmetric defects of strip shape as much as possible, some control strategies were proposed, including tilting and asymmetric bending of intermediate roll and work roll. The combinations of these three control strategies can effectively eliminate asymmetric strip shape defects. Finally, the closed-loop control model of asymmetric flatness at the last stand was given, and the flatness control system with the function of asymmetric strip shape control was also designed for cold tandem mill.
